Fighting for Fairness: How Neural Rehabilitation Group Advocates for Injured Ontarians

At Neural Rehabilitation Group, our mission has always been clear: to provide the highest quality care for individuals recovering from serious injuries. But providing care is only one part of the equation—ensuring our clients have access to the benefits and resources they are entitled to is just as critical. That’s why we are actively involved in Injury Advocates, a coalition of healthcare and legal professionals dedicated to fixing Ontario’s broken accident benefits system.

The Problem: A System That Works Against the Injured

Ontario’s auto insurance and workers’ compensation systems were designed to protect people after catastrophic injuries. Unfortunately, outdated policies, unfair reimbursement rates, and insurer-driven barriers are leaving many without the care they need.

  • Attendant care rates are outdated and inadequate, forcing families to cover the gap or go without critical support.
  • Delays, denials, and loopholes in insurance policies make it difficult for injured individuals to access essential treatment.
  • Rehabilitation service providers are underpaid and undervalued, leading to staffing shortages and reduced access to quality care.

This is not just about policies—it’s about real people losing their independence, struggling financially, and suffering unnecessary hardship because the system favors insurers over those who need care the most.

Our Advocacy Work: Driving Meaningful Change

Through Injury Advocates, we are working with industry leaders to push for reforms that will make a real difference in the lives of injured Ontarians. Some of our key initiatives include:

Updating Form 1 Attendant Care Rates – We are urging the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario (FSRA) to update rates to reflect the real cost of care and increase caps so that no one is left without the support they need.

Fixing the Minor Injury Guideline (MIG) – The current MIG unfairly limits access to care, even for individuals with long-term, complex injuries. We are fighting to reform these guidelines so that people get the proper rehabilitation they need.

Ensuring Fair Reimbursement for Healthcare Providers – Without proper compensation, skilled healthcare professionals will leave the industry, worsening access to quality care. We are advocating for fair rates and faster processing of claims to support both providers and patients.

Calling Out Insurer Tactics That Harm Claimants – We are working to expose how some insurers delay and underpay claims, use biased Independent Medical Examiners (IMEs), and exploit loopholes that leave accident victims stranded.

Why This Matters to You

Whether you’re a healthcare professional, a person recovering from an injury, or someone who simply believes in fairness, this fight affects all of us. When accident benefits fail, families suffer, public healthcare bears the cost, and vulnerable individuals lose their chance at recovery.

We believe that every injured Ontarian deserves the care they paid for—without endless battles, delays, or denials.
